Time: 5:00 - 5:45 pm
Location: Room 214
Lunch: Science Café
Presentation: Agilent Metabolomic Solutions: Discovery, Targeted, Qualitative Flux, Cell Analysis, and Genomics
Speaker: Stephen Baumann, Technical Marketing Manager, Global Applied Markets, Agilent Technologies
Abstract: Metabolomics evaluates low molecular weight compounds with a wide range of physiochemical properties. Measuring the metabolome provides important information about the functional status of a biological system. Its proximity to the phenotype of an organism provides complementary information for genomics and proteomics applications.
Due to the chemical diversity of metabolites, multiple analytical techniques are necessary for a complete profile. Agilent offers a range of reliable and innovative systems for discovery and targeted metabolomics analysis, including open-source options for processing, identifying, and interpreting complex metabolomics data.
We also provide sample preparation and robotics solutions so that Agilent can accelerate metabolomics analysis workflows at every step, from sample preparation to data analysis.
Date: Monday, May 22, 2023
Time: 12:05 - 1:05 pm
Location: Room 108
Sponsored by Agilent Technologies, Inc.
MSB Inclusion Lunch: "Navigating diverse personal and professional lives"
This session invites conference participants to join for discussion about actions we can take as students, faculty, and researchers to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our scientific communities. The session will be modelled after a GRC Power Hour and is designed to be engaging and stimulating of further conversation throughout the remainder of the meeting.
Facilitators:
- Rebecca Whelan, PhD, Associate Professor, The University of Kansas
- Tian (Autumn) Qiu, PhD, Assistant Professor, Michigan State University
- Ana Valéria Colnaghi Simionato, Associate Professor, State University of Campinas
- Matthew Lockett, PhD, Associate Professor, University of North Carolina
- Rebecca Pompano, PhD, Associate Professor, University of Virginia
Date: Tuesday, May 23, 2023
Time: 12:05 - 1:15 pm
Location: Room 108
Sponsored by Society for Microscale Separations and Bioanalysis.
3-Minute Research Showcase
Attention graduate students, postdocs, and early career industry scientists! If you would like a chance to practice pitching your research to a broad audience, register now for MSB's brand new 3-minute Research Showcase event. In this friendly competition, adapted from the 3-Minute Thesis (“3MT”) program, early career researchers showcase their work in just 3 minutes, using only a single static slide. In some ways it is like a short TED talk. The scope may include a current or recent project, or a set of related projects that form a dissertation or equivalent. We are deliberately broadening the scope of this program to be inclusive to graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and early career industry researchers at various stages of their work. Register by May 16th to participate!
Date: Tuesday, May 23, 2023
Time: 4:25 - 5:40 pm
Location: Room 208
